The Malaysian-based Sri Lankan driver clinched victory in the fifth and sixth rounds of the Aston Martin Cup Asia to continue his dominance in the event this season and also won the Round eight race of the Asian GT 4 championships for good measure.
Malagamuwa who has now won five of the six rounds that have been completed in the Aston Martin Cup Asia this season has taken an imperious lead in the championship points table.
Malagamuwa who started off in the second place in the grid behind Mark Williamson in Round 5 overtook Williamson the in the first lap itself and pulled away to win the race easily. Williamson finished second while Simon Waters finished third.
This victory earned the Round Six Pole Position to Malagamuwa, but it started raining just before the start of the race forcing Malagamuwa to change into wet tyres.
“I knew it was going to be tough, because in wet tyre, you cannot afford to commit any mistakes. I was cautious, yet managed to get an excellent start. Once that was perfect, I knew there was no catching me for anyone” said Malagamuwa
